The iPad Air could get an OLED upgrade next year.

Apple added an OLED display to the iPad Pro in 2024, and Apple Insider points out this ET News report suggesting the Air could be next, in the first half of 2027. A rumor last year from Bloomberg, however, suggested it would come after an OLED iPad Mini upgrade in 2026.

Microsoft developer brings a macOS favorite feature to Windows.

Scott Hanselman is the VP of technical staff for CoreAI, GitHub, and Windows at Microsoft, but he’s also a developer that just brought a macOS Sonoma feature to Windows. PeekDesktop is a small system tray utility that lets you click an empty wallpaper to minimize open apps and interact with the desktop and restore everything with a click. You can kind of do this with Windows key + D, but Hanselman’s tool feels a lot more like macOS.

Apple is reportedly testing four different designs for its smart glasses.

The next big product category Apple is supposedly tackling is display-free smart glasses to rival Meta’s. But the design has yet to be locked in, according to Cupertino whisperer Mark Gurman. The company might launch some or all four of the designs under consideration:

A large rectangular frame, reminiscent of Ray-Ban Wayfarers

A slimmer rectangular design, similar to the glasses worn by Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook

Larger oval or circular frames

A smaller, more refined oval or circular option

Adobe’s ‘computational photography’ camera app is now available for the iPad.

After adding support for the iPhone 17 and its square sensor selfie camera last November, Adobe has updated its Project Indigo camera app to support the iPhone 17e and iPads with at least 6GB of RAM. But Adobe warns that “Project Indigo is not yet tuned for iPad operation” and suggests sticking with an iPhone for an “optimal experience.”

Apple to close three retail stores, including the first to unionize.

The stores are all located in struggling shopping malls. Employees at the non-union shops can transfer to nearby stores, but union workers from Towson, Maryland can apply for open roles. Apple says this is due to their collective bargain agreement, which the union disputes, threatening legal action.

Apple adds MacBook Neo parts to its Self Service Repair Store.

iFixit called the MacBook Neo the “most repairable MacBook in 14 years,” and if you’re endeavoring to repair one yourself, you can now get replacement parts from Apple, as spotted by 9to5Mac. These include the Neo’s battery, bottom case, audio board, and even its display which is $307.12 if you don’t return the broken part.

If you buy something from a Verge link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.

Apple’s foldable iPhone to use Samsung display.

The Elec reports that Samsung Display secured a three-year exclusivity deal for folding iPhone screens, with the maybe-delayed, maybe-not-delayed Apple foldable due later this year. The question is whether Apple is getting the nearly creaseless panels Samsung showed off at CES, which it will need to match the Oppo Find N6.

The foldable iPhone is actually “on track” to launch in September, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

Nikkei Asia reported earlier that the foldable iPhone could hit shipment delays due to engineering setbacks, but Gurman says that the phone will be announced with the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. However, he says supply of the foldable iPhone might initially be limited.

Valve has released a native visionOS version of its Steam Link app in beta.

“This update improves network performance, allows streaming up to 4K resolutions, and allows you to dynamically adjust the curve of the display in panoramic mode,” Valve says. But the app doesn’t support VR content — it’s intended for streaming 2D games.

Apple isn’t giving up on its App Store fight with Epic just yet.

The iPhone maker plans to ask the Supreme Court to review a December 2025 ruling that found Apple in contempt by imposing a 27 percent fee on external in-app payments, according to a new legal filing. Apple also is asking the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to pause that ruling.

Apple approves driver that lets Nvidia eGPUs work with Arm Macs.

Did hell freeze over? Not quite: the driver belongs to Tiny Corp, not Nvidia, you’ll have to compile it with Docker rather than plug-and-play, and it’s designed for LLMs. But you no longer need to disable Apple’s System Integrity Protection (SIP), because Apple is letting that driver get signed, Tiny says.

Apple finally approved our driver for both AMD and NVIDIA,” Tiny writes.

“Bad things happen here.”

Apple TV’s next big series kicks off at the end of the month, and Widow’s Bay follows a small island town with a, let’s say, checkered past. The show mixes up horror and comedy, and it’s part of a big line-up coming to the streamer this year.

Apple cuts off Russian App Store and subscriptions due to sanctions.

Apple Ireland, which handles the company’s non-US business, was recently fined for violating sanctions against business dealings with Russia. In response, the subsidiary has shut down payment processing in Russia, cutting customers off from Apple Music, iCloud, and even making it impossible for them to buy new apps.

As of April 1, 2026, payment processing is no longer available for purchases made on the App Store or other Apple Media Services in Russia. This might affect your existing subscriptions. New purchases, including in-app purchases and subscription renewals, are no longer available in Russia unless you have funds in your Apple Account balance.
