SQL Developer
Location: Remote
Contract-to-hire: 12-month contract to start
Our client, a leading global provider of technology-enabled claims and risk management solutions, is immediately seeking a skilled SQL Developer to join their team for a remote, contract-to-hire opportunity. This position is focused on back-end Microsoft SQL Server development, with opportunities to contribute to broader application development. Experience with .NET and C# is a strong plus.
What You’ll Do
Design, develop, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases, queries, stored procedures, and jobs
Analyze and improve existing SQL code for performance and efficiency
Build and support ad hoc reporting solutions using SQL (reporting tools may vary)
Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Contribute to the design and development of scalable, maintainable systems
Support core application areas including claims management, reporting, intake services, and system integrations
Debug, test, and document software enhancements and fixes
Investigate and resolve production issues and support escalations
Follow development standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Stay current with evolving technologies and development best practices
What We’re Looking For
Strong SQL Server development experience with a focus on back-end programming
Proven ability to write efficient, complex SQL queries and scripts
Experience with ad hoc report development using SQL (any reporting tool is acceptable)
Ability to analyze and optimize existing database code
A problem-solving mindset with a focus on building better, more efficient solutions
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Stable work history demonstrating solid tenure
Experience with SSRS/SSIS is acceptable, but this role emphasizes hands-on SQL development and problem-solving, not report assembly from pre-built components
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
~6+ years of experience in software development or business/data analysis
Minimum 3+ years of SQL Server experience
Minimum 3+ years of ad hoc SQL reporting experience
Strong understanding of application design and data architecture principles
Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with .NET and C#
Familiarity with insurance or claims management systems
Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions
Exposure to additional programming languages (e.g., Java) is a plus
