Your card has been declined solution

All my cards keep getting declined when I try to add a payment method.

I called my bank and they said that the card is getting declined because openai charges $0 when you add the card.

To fix this issue openai need to charge $1 when someone adds a card.

Can this post be taken to someone at openai.

How can this still be an issue in 2026?? Does OpenAI simply not read these posts?

Hey @Vince_Wynn, totally get how frustrating that is. Payments failing for no clear reason can be a pain.

What’s usually happening here is the bank or card issuer is blocking the transaction, even if everything looks fine on your side. It can be triggered by things like international charges, prepaid cards, or strict fraud filters.

A couple things worth trying:

  • Use a different card (credit tends to work better than debit or prepaid)
  • Make sure billing address matches exactly what your bank has
  • Check with your bank to see if they’re blocking the charge
  • Try again after a short wait or from a different browser

If it keeps happening, opening a ticket at help.openai.com with a screenshot of the error is the best next step so it can be looked into properly.

Also curious like you mentioned, if @reenver found a workaround, would be great to share here for others too.
