Today, anyone in the U.S. can opt into Personal Intelligence for AI Mode in Search on their personal accounts. It’s also starting to roll out in the Gemini app and Gemini in Chrome. Personal Intelligence allows you to securely connect the dots across your Google apps — like Gmail, Google Photos and more — to provide responses that are uniquely relevant to you. For example, you can: 💻 Get help troubleshooting tech issues — even if you don’t remember exactly what product you bought. 🛫 Navigate a tight layover schedule with ease, incorporating your flight timing, next departure gate and dietary preferences.   📚 Discover new hobbies tailored to your interests — even ones you didn't realize, like poetry, knowing you enjoy reading and nature. Personal Intelligence was designed with transparency, choice and control at its core. You choose if and when you want to connect your apps, and you can turn those connections on or off at any time. How can we ensure everyone — especially those early in their careers — benefits from the potential of AI? Today, at the Future of Work in the Age of AI Forum in Riga, we’re launching AI Works for Europe, an ongoing initiative to help the current and future workforce harness the power of AI. Our first commitment includes: 🧑💻 $30M of funding via Google.org’s AI Opportunity Fund to help 50,000 workers and students at 50 European higher education institutions develop AI skills. 🎓 This includes Google .org support for European nonprofits INCO & Chance, to create NewFutures:AI, a program that will help final-year students access practical AI skills and access career support. 📑 Expanding access to the new Google AI Professional Certificate in 10 European languages to provide in-demand practical skills. Last week I sat down with INCO founder Nicolas Hazard to understand how Google.org supported his team’s research into how AI is changing the landscape of entry level work. Check out our chat below and you can read more about the full AI Works for Europe initiative on the Keyword blog: https://lnkd.in/eH_raJ6w

Bryan’s career journey at Google started with the overnight shift in security. Today, he’s a licensed attorney and Global Intelligence Manager who leads one of the teams responsible for keeping our employees safe. He used Google’s Education Reimbursement Program to close the gap between where he was and where he wanted to be. While the financial support for his degrees was a game-changer, he credits his leadership for helping him manage the balance of working full-time while finishing law school. "The support from my leadership at Google was what made the finish line possible,” he explains. “My leadership didn't just 'allow' me to study; they supported me consistently throughout the five year process." Bryan’s advice for success at Google? "The willingness to be vulnerable to feedback,” he says. “In my experience, Googlers don’t often offer feedback to find fault, they do it because of a collective desire to produce the best possible product." Welcome to Platform 37, our new building in London’s King’s Cross. Opening later this year, it’s a world-class Google workspace and a hub for the community — including a new public space dedicated to deepening understanding of artificial intelligence. The name is a nod to "Move 37," a pivotal play made by Google DeepMind’s AlphaGo AI system in a now legendary 2016 match against Go world champion Lee Sae Dol. “Move 37” was so unconventional that human experts initially thought it was a mistake — but the play had set up AlphaGo to win, and the victory heralded the beginning of what is now recognized as the modern era in AI. Groundsource is a new AI-powered methodology that transforms millions of public reports into a high-quality record of historical disaster data to aid crisis prediction — starting with flash floods in urban areas. Groundsource used Gemini to analyze decades of public reports and identified over 2.6 million historical flood events from 150+ countries. It then used Google Maps to determine precise geographic boundaries for each event to create a dataset focused on flash floods. That data was used to train a new mode designed to help predict flash floods in urban areas up to 24 hours in advance. These urban flash flood forecasts are now available in Google’s Flood Hub, marking a significant expansion to our flood forecasting capabilities. We're also open-sourcing Groundsource to help our partners and scientists scale their impact, particularly in regions that have lacked historical flash flooding data.
