  • History lovesĀ a genius. It just forgot to mention she was a woman.Ā  Ā  For centuries, brilliant European women powered progress,Ā yetĀ this was not fully recognised.Ā  Ā  🚺Melitta Bentz invented the coffee filter. History called her aĀ ā€˜housewife’.Ā  🚺Marthe Gautier found DownĀ Syndrome'sĀ extraĀ chromosome. Her bossĀ Ā receivedĀ theĀ NobelĀ prize.Ā  🚺Maria Anna Mozart composed masterpieces. WolfgangĀ AmadeusĀ got theĀ spotlight,Ā her scores vanished.Ā  🚺Janet Sobel pioneered drip painting. Jackson Pollock copied it andĀ wasĀ theĀ acclaimedĀ genius.Ā  Ā  ThisĀ International Women's Day,Ā we want to rebalance the scales. We want to put these women in the spotlight and give them the credit they deserve!Ā Ā

  • We must protect the ocean.Ā šŸŒšŸŒŠ Ā  It regulates our climate, feeds millions of people, and protects our coastlines.Ā  But we cannot protect what we do not understand. That’sĀ whyĀ we areĀ stepping upĀ our efforts. By 2030, the EUĀ willĀ deliverĀ aĀ fullyĀ operationalĀ EuropeanĀ OceanĀ Observation System, and we will provide 50 million EuroĀ fundingĀ in theĀ nextĀ twoĀ years. BecauseĀ protecting the ocean means protectingĀ our communities,Ā healthĀ and future. 🌊

  • The futureĀ doesn’tĀ start tomorrow. It starts with the choices we make today.Ā  Ā  So,Ā whatĀ kind of present, and future, do we want to build?Ā  Ā  Last year, we held a European Citizens’ Panel.Ā Bringing together people from acrossĀ Europe, itĀ greatly informedĀ our new Strategy on Intergenerational Fairness.Ā  Ā  The goal is simple: make sure today’s decisions expand, not limit, the opportunities of future generations, and that benefits and responsibilities are shared fairly between young and old.Ā Ā  Ā  Citizens spoke, and we listened.Ā In practice,Ā the StrategyĀ means:Ā  🌱 Protecting our planetĀ  šŸ’¼ Backing quality jobs and a resilient economyĀ  šŸ¤ Strengthening communities across EuropeĀ  šŸ’¶ Keeping public finances sustainableĀ  šŸ—³ļø Giving everyone, especially young people, a real say in the decisions that shape their futureĀ  Ā  It’sĀ about solidarity between generations. So that today’s progress becomes tomorrow’sĀ opportunity. šŸ’™Ā  Ā  Find out more:Ā https://lnkd.in/eH7GG54QĀ

  • Equal rightsĀ aren’tĀ aĀ favour – theyĀ areĀ a requirement.Ā  In recentĀ years, we’veĀ strengthened equal payĀ provisions, promoted women on boards, and improved protections against violence. But ā€˜better’ isn’tĀ ā€˜equal’.Ā  Our Gender Equality Strategy 2026–2030 is officially here to tackle:Ā  šŸ”øĀ Violence against women and girlsĀ  šŸ”¹Ā Sexual and reproductive healthĀ  šŸ”øĀ Gender pay and pension gapsĀ  šŸ”¹Ā Shared family duties and work-life balanceĀ  šŸ”øĀ Women’s voices in public life and media WeĀ won’tĀ stop until every woman is valued for her voice, not just her presence.Ā  Dive deeperĀ šŸ‘‰šŸ½Ā https://lnkd.in/ejFHeW9jĀ Ā

    • The image is a circular infographic with a title in bold black ā€˜Reasons why we need Gender Equality.’ It features a donut chart divided into four segments with different percentages but all with the same reason that is labelled "Because we are all equal". Each segment has a distinct colour: 35% in pink, 20% in lavender, 15% in yellow, 30% in purple. There is a European Commission logo in the bottom right corner. The background is textured purple.
  • The safety of Europeans is always our first priority. Ā  With recent developments in the Middle East, we are stepping up to bring people safely home. Ā  Through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, we are actively supporting EU countries to organise repatriation flights. Ā  So far, we have helped coordinate six flights returning citizens to Bulgaria, Italy, Austria, and Slovakia. More flights are planned in the coming days to assist the ten EU countries that have requested support. MorešŸ‘‰ https://lnkd.in/etKRNHH2 EU in Emergencies

  • Our seas do more than just provide a beautiful view. They power our economy.Ā Ā  Ā Ā  Today, we are stepping up our efforts to boost our ports and maritime industries.Ā  Ā  Ā From the ships that carry our goods to the yards where they are built, we are focused on making the entire sector stronger and more sustainable.Ā  Ā Ā  We are working to:Ā  Ā Ā  āœ… Modernise ports across all EU countries.Ā  āœ… Lead the world in clean maritime technology.Ā  āœ… Protect our trade routes and security.Ā  āœ… Attract new talent and upskill workers for a digital maritime future.Ā  Ā Ā  We are keeping Europe and its maritime industry competitive and ready for the future.Ā Ā  Ā Ā  Here's how šŸ‘‰ https://lnkd.in/gpvXvGezĀ  Ā  šŸ“·Ā© Adobe stockĀ  - Helsinki, Finland. • Strong industry. Strong jobs.Ā Made inĀ Europe.Ā  Ā Ā  Today, weĀ presentedĀ the Industrial Accelerator Act to boost demand for low-carbon and made in Europe technologies and products.Ā  Ā Ā  Our goal: increase manufacturing to 20%Ā of EU GDP by 2035 and strengthen Europe’s economic resilience.Ā  Ā Ā  To deliver on this, the Act will:Ā  šŸ”·SupportĀ lead markets for Made in EU and low-carbon productsĀ  šŸ”·EnsureĀ that foreign direct investments bring value to the EU,Ā andĀ guaranteeĀ a 50%Ā minimumĀ level of European employmentĀ  šŸ”·SimplifyĀ permitting procedures for industrial projectsĀ  šŸ”·BoostĀ sustainable manufacturingĀ  Ā Ā  This is how we turn climate ambition into concrete industrial growth in Europe.Ā  Ā Ā  MoreĀ info:Ā https://lnkd.in/eWZhGeNr

  • On World Wildlife Day, weĀ markĀ Europe’s rich wildlife and underline the urgent need to protect the habitats they depend on.Ā  Ā  Thanks to our EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 andĀ the EU's nature laws, we are protecting 30% of Europe’s land and sea,Ā and restoring degraded ecosystems across the continent, turningĀ pledgesĀ intoĀ action.Ā  Ā  Because investing in nature is not a cost – it is an investment in our citizens’ quality of life, our economic stability, and climate resilience.Ā  Ā  From words to action:Ā explore some of our restored ecosystemsĀ šŸ‘‰Ā  https://lnkd.in/eXTte5wnĀ
