While building DrDroid, one of the more concrete classifications I used to do in engineering teams was if they had adopted Pagerduty (or equivalent product) or not so far. This would tell me about the maturity of their stack, their urgency for fixing issues and team size reaching a stage where on-call rotation meant something. However, in my more recent conversations, I am seeing a shift in this classification. Teams have formed robust on-call processes with just Slack and in-house developed bots that helps them setup whatever part of Pagerduty was useful for them and still keep everything in single workspace. The alert in slack becomes the central entity. These bots can tag the right team on that alert as well the stakeholders, pull in data / dashboard links from different sources which seem relevant and in some cases run the error through an LLM for simple recommendations on what to do next. An SDE-2 can pull this off in less than a week for her team. We, at DrDroid, have bundled this simplified approach into a simple AIOps platform that takes this to the next level by absorbing your documents, your past slack conversations on those alerts and architectural knowledge from your cloud / monitoring stack and bring you the real-time recommendations which are 10x superior and to-the-point for fixing the issue highlighted in those alerts. Google just launched their AI Kubernetes assistant, kubectl-ai ! I gave it a spin. Here's my honest feedback as a developer: 1. Easy to setup 2. Works well with simple commands 3. For complex commands, works well too -- sometimes doesn't show source data / proof of work. 4.
