Today, we announced that our Google Threat Intelligence Group successfully dismantled IPIDEA, a residential proxy network that served as the digital camouflage for over 550 threat groups globally. Automated attacks rely on a single structural vulnerability: the need to remain invisible. By executing a synchronized legal and technical strike, we didn’t just block IPs—we incinerated infrastructure adversaries spent years building. The Strategic Takedown: - Legal Decapitation: We seized control of management domains, effectively "pulling the plug" on the command-and-control center. - Ecosystem Defense: Through Google Play Protect, we’ve automated user warings and the removal of applications with the malicious code from hijacked devices, neutralizing the threat at the edge. When we destroy an adversary’s infrastructure, we force them to burn their most precious resource: time ⌛. Read Robert McMillan’s exclusive deep dive in The Wall Street Journal: https://lnkd.in/g76ygG-P Kudos to the team leading this complex operation. We aren't just defending the perimeter; we are reshaping the battlefield.

Meet Devansh, a software engineer (SWE) based in our New York City office. For Devansh, working at Google wasn’t always on his career roadmap. “When I was in school, I was very torn between staying in academia to pursue a PhD in algorithms research, or working in industry and pursuing a security-related job,” he explained. However, after a stint at a small cybersecurity company, Devansh knew he wanted to further explore industry opportunities — and he wanted to do it at a global scale. Now a SWE on one of Google Cloud’s security teams, Devansh builds tools and services that allow Cloud customers to monitor and verify the security of their data. Devansh shared a crucial piece of advice for students interested in following his footsteps. “Remember: people are not as scary as they seem! As a student, I used to be so intimidated to reach out and ask for help. Whether for networking, problem-solving, debugging or even just career advice, I find that so many people are very willing and supportive to share their experience or advice if you just ask.” In short: “Just reach out!” Want to make an impact like Devansh? Introducing Project Genie: An experimental research prototype powered by Genie 3, our world model, that lets you prompt an interactive world into existence — and then step inside. 🌎 Last year, we previewed Genie 3, a general-purpose world model capable of generating diverse, interactive environments. Now, we’re taking the next step with a dedicated, interactive prototype focused on immersive world creation — powered by Genie 3, Nano Banana, and Gemini. Project Genie allows you to create and explore your own worlds as they generate in real time around you, simulating real-world physics and interactions as you move. Building AGI requires systems that navigate the diversity of the real world — and world models like Genie are an important step toward meeting that challenge. It's rolling out today to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. (18+). We can’t wait to see the worlds you build. Learn more → goo.gle/4tlCFuG

It turns out one of the quickest ways to bring Googlers together is to put them in a room… and give them something tricky to figure out. Enter Escape the Office, a Google-themed escape room team-building activity that thousands of Googlers have participated in. During remote work, a small team of Googlers designed a virtual escape room to help teams stay engaged with each other while working from home. It quickly evolved into an in-person experience run by a team of volunteers that’s now available in nine Google offices worldwide. From Bangalore to Zurich, teams solve puzzle challenges created with everyday office items by collaborating in unexpected ways. “Googlers were hungry for connection… and they continued to be,” explains Minh, one of the creators. “Googlers get to discover colleagues they haven't met yet while unlocking a stronger understanding of the people they work with every day.” For global admin Laurentiu, watching teams come together remains the best part: “The chance to help keep Google’s culture of connection and creativity alive is the greatest reward of all.”

For Aidan, a Regional Product Lead on the Customer Solutions team, his journey to Google’s Ann Arbor office was deeply personal. Much of how he approaches his work is shaped by his mother’s influence. “Her example taught me that professional success isn't just about the resources you have, but how effectively you use them to support others.” He approached his path to Google with focus and determination. “I treated my Google internship as a full-time mission, spending every day studying and networking to earn my spot. That relentless preparation paid off, launching a journey that has now spanned nearly five years of growth and impact.” Today, his work centers on making sure products truly serve small and medium businesses. “As a Regional Product Lead, I represent the voice of the market to ensure our product roadmaps actually solve the challenges small and medium businesses face.” Aidan’s advice for those interested in similar roles: “Think ‘at-scale’ by creating frameworks and training materials that empower hundreds of stakeholders at once, rather than just solving one-off problems.” Explore roles on the Customer Solutions team → https://goo.gle/3LNS1ad
