About us

Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one. Together, Amazonians research and develop new technologies from Amazon Web Services to Alexa on behalf of our customers: shoppers, sellers, content creators, and developers around the world. Our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Our actions, goals, projects, programs, and inventions begin and end with the customer top of mind. You'll also hear us say that at Amazon, it's always "Day 1." What do we mean? That our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon's very first day - to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and focus on delighting our customers.

As we close out 2025, incredibly grateful for our teammates and partners who've driven real impact in the communities where we live and work. While there's still more to do, here's a look at some of the progress made this year: 1. Through our $3.6B housing fund, we surpassed 23K affordable homes created and preserved this year for 50K+ residents across the Puget Sound, National Capital Region, and Nashville. 2. We collaborated with 50+ food banks in the U.S. and U.K. to deliver over 12.8M meals to the doorsteps of more than 82K families in need and committed to continuing our support of our partners for another 3 years. We also transported 70M meals from suppliers to food banks, and from food banks to pantries, schools, and other community distribution points worldwide. 3. We responded to 30 natural disasters across 12 countries—using our logistics network to deliver over 1.6M relief items to nonprofits and our disaster relief technology to help restore power and connectivity to impacted communities. We also donated $10M to support relief efforts after the devastating wildfires in California and $3M after the historic flooding in our home state of Washington. 4. Over 275K Amazon volunteers across 56 countries organized 26K events this year, including a record 134K participants in our Global Month of Volunteering in May. We partnered with 2.5K+ nonprofits across 40+ countries, including Habitat for Humanity, Everybody Wins DC, and Roc Solid Foundation. 5. Through Future Ready 2030, our $2.5B global commitment to education and skills training, we're helping prepare 50M people for the future of work. Our Amazon Future Engineer program also provided over 17M hours of STEM education to 1.1M students in the U.S. and awarded $17.3M in scholarships to 900+ students in the U.S. and India. And we committed to AI skills training for 4M U.S. learners through the White House's Pledge to America's Youth. 6. Six years after founding The Climate Pledge, our commitment to net-zero carbon by 2040, we hit a significant milestone of over 600 Climate Pledge signatories who will play a critical role in stimulating investment in the development of low-carbon products and services. 7. We celebrated 25 years of independent sellers in Amazon's store—most of which are small and medium-sized businesses that continue to strengthen local economies across the country. These sellers make up more than 60% of sales in our store, have generated more than $2.5T in cumulative sales, and in 2024, employed more than 2M people in the U.S. providing over $100B in wages.   We want communities to be better off because we're there, and we'll keep building on this in 2026, leveraging Amazon's size, scale, and unique ability to help. Excited about what we'll accomplish together. Happy New Year!

POV: The social media manager is out of office and you thought "how hard could it be?" 🎥 Spoiler alert: The elaborate setup was flawless. The camera angle? Not so much. At least we got a great selfie out of it! In all seriousness, this time of year is when many of our incredible employees and partners take well-deserved time to rest and recharge after another year of hard work and dedication. We're grateful for everything they do to drive innovation and serve our customers. (And yes, we have full coverage—this is just us having a little fun!) 😄

Generative AI is transforming how we serve customers across Amazon, making everyday life easier. Earlier this year, Amazon Robotics Chief Technologist Tye Brady shared insights into Amazon’s vision for the future of AI and robotics and what it means for customers. With recent announcements supporting AI education with the White House and a major global investment in AI innovation and job creation in India, we’re sharing the latest updates and a look back at this year’s most impactful AI moments, plus how they’re shaping Amazon for 2026 and beyond. ⬇️

When disaster strikes our home state, we step up. Our 24/7 operations team of meteorologists, operations leaders, and safety experts continue monitoring conditions closely to keep our teammates, partners, and neighbors safe.

When catastrophic flooding hit communities across Washington state, Amazon mobilized immediately. We're donating $3 million to support United Ways of the Pacific Northwest, the WA State Emergency Fund, and American Red Cross as they respond to flooding that has forced more than 100,000 people from their homes and has put more than 5 million under flood watches. Today we donated an additional $100,000 to The Salvation Army and Red Cross. But our response goes beyond financial support. We're leveraging what we do best -- logistics and speed -- and have already delivered more than 50,000 emergency supplies including essentials, hygiene kits, comfort items for children, and medical devices to nonprofits like Red Cross and Save the Children who are operating shelters for evacuees across western Washington. Since 2017, Amazon has contributed more than 26 million relief items to support people impacted by more than 200 disasters worldwide. But when disaster impacts our home in Washington state, our ability to support is especially meaningful. We're committed to using our technology and expertise to be the best employer and neighbor we can be. The threat hasn't passed yet. Atmospheric rivers continue and our 24/7 operations team of meteorologists, operations leaders, and safety experts continue monitoring conditions closely to keep our teammates, partners, and neighbors safe.

Another batch of Amazon Leo satellites deployed. Our seventh launch of the year is officially in the books. Huge thanks to United Launch Alliance (ULA) for taking our LA-04 payload to space aboard Atlas V. Amazon Leo is about one big goal: extending reliable, high-speed internet to those beyond the reach of existing networks. Really proud of this mission and what the team is building. Pumped for what’s ahead 🚀
