Removal of Manual AI Model Selector Has Caused Significant Damage to Paid Projects

I am posting this as formal feedback and notice regarding a critical change Base44 has recently made. Until recently, Base44 allowed users to either: Use a default AI model selection, or Manually choose a specific coding model (Claude Pro, Gemini 3 Pro, GPT-5, etc.) Many of us have paid thousands of dollars for access to this platform and intentionally built entire websites using one specific model, because different models produce different coding styles, structures, and assumptions. Base44 has now removed the manual AI model selector and replaced it with an “intelligent” automatic selector. This change has had severe consequences. The problem The automatic selector is generating code that is incompatible with existing codebases built using specific models. Previously working websites are now broken or non-functional. In my case, I spent an entire day attempting to repair damage caused solely by this forced change, and my site is now completely non-functional. The system continues to introduce new breaking changes every time code is generated. This is not an edge case — this is a predictable and fundamental issue when mixing AI coding models mid-project without user control. The bigger issue This feature was a core capability relied upon when purchasing access. Removing it mid-subscription materially changes the service that was paid for. Refunds are being refused despite the platform actively breaking existing customer projects. What needs to happen At minimum, Base44 must: Restore the manual AI model selector, or Allow projects to be locked to a specific model, or Provide refunds for users whose projects have been damaged by this change. Final note This post serves as formal notice that continuing to force an automatic AI selector — while refusing refunds — exposes Base44 to potential legal claims related to service alteration, damages, and misrepresentation. I strongly urge Base44 to address this immediately. Restoring the manual AI model selector would resolve this issue for many users and prevent further damage.

We’re running several production-grade apps on Base44 and are moving a first customer from pilot to full production. We’d like to clarify what Base44 currently supports around data backup & recovery, as we’re planning an external S3-based backup strategy. Quick questions: Is there a way to programmatically export all collections/entities (incl. relations) via backend functions or API? Do backend functions support scheduled / cron jobs for nightly exports? How do Base44 internal backups work in practice (frequency, retention, consistency)? Is point-in-time restore or restore to a staging environment possible? Are there webhooks or change events (create/update/delete) we can subscribe to? Any rate limits / best practices for large datasets (ERP-like use cases)? We’re not looking to replace Base44’s backups, but to complement them with our own offsite backups for enterprise customers.

The new credit system is frustrating to work with; practically every message consumes 2.0 credits. There are cases where changing a single line of code consumed 2.0 credits. If you have a 250-credit plan, you automatically have half of what you had before to use. I believe this is a company strategy; tomorrow it will be 3.0...

Why does everytime a deploy my chess game app it stops when you go to sign up, or sign in? Why can’t I have an easier payment type? Why is it so hard to connect to my stripe account. And then when it does and I look for it why can’t I find it? Why do I have this problem every single time I come back to basse44.com can I not find the apps I just made?

My Base44 app is an SPA. Social media crawlers (FB, LI, TT) do not execute JavaScript, failing to read dynamic Meta Tags (og:image/title). Auto Mode Only Is Disrupting Professional System Design

Hello Base44 Team, I would like to express a serious concern regarding a recent change on the platform that has directly impacted the way we work. The ability to manually select the AI model was not a minor feature; it was a fundamental part of how our systems were designed. Each model behaves differently and excels at different tasks. Choosing the appropriate model was essential to maintaining stable, coherent workflows. By removing this option and enforcing auto mode only, user control has been reduced and inconsistent behavior has been introduced into systems that were already defined and operating. This affects reliability and breaks architectures that depended on intentional design decisions rather than automatic selection. Automation can be useful, but it cannot be the only path. In complex systems, the builder’s logic and intent cannot be replaced by an automated decision made by the platform. This change represents a step backward for those of us using Base44 to build serious, structured solutions. We want to continue working on the platform, but we need tools that respect user control and system stability. We respectfully ask the team to reconsider this decision and restore the ability to manually select models, keeping auto mode as an option rather than a requirement. Thank you for listening.

Removal of Model Selection in Base44 Is Blocking Real Workflows

Hello Base44 team and community, I’d like to raise a serious concern regarding a recent change on the Base44 platform. Until recently, when building systems, we were able to choose the agent model (Sonnet, Opus, Gemini, ChatGPT). This worked extremely well for us — different models were used for different tasks, and our workflows were stable, predictable, and efficient. Now, the platform has been changed so that model selection is no longer possible and everything runs in automatic mode only. Unfortunately, this change is severely impacting our ability to work and has completely disrupted our plans and system architecture. We understand that maintaining access to multiple model providers can be expensive, and that cost optimization is important. However, we are also paying a significant amount for this platform specifically to build professional systems. Removing such a critical control without an alternative is not a fair trade-off. There were clearly better solutions available, for example: Different pricing tiers for different models Pay-per-use or credits per model Allowing advanced users to manually select models Keeping “auto mode” as an option, not the only choice Different models excel at different tasks. Auto-selection cannot replace intentional architectural decisions, especially for complex systems. Right now, this feels like a step backwards for power users and teams building serious products on Base44. We strongly ask the team to reconsider this decision and bring back manual model selection, even if it requires higher-tier plans or additional costs. Base44 is a powerful platform — we want to continue building on it, but we need the tools and control to do our work properly. Thank you for listening.

Base44's Quality Just Went Down - No AI Model Selection

Bae44 now only provides the cheapest most default automatic AI selection. No more Gemini Pro 3, no more Claude Pro, they only provide the cheapest models now and the basic ones. You won’t be able to do that good coding anymore. BRING BACK AI MODEL SELECTION or a lot of us will be leaving Base44. It’s now cheap and unusable.

Multi-Tenant App Needs Certificates

We are working on a multi-tenant Whitelabeled app. Currently we can build for it, but there are limitations to customizing the domain name since the app settings only allow 1 custom domain AND there is no way in the system to handle adding custom domain names as a Subject Alternative Name on pre-existing certificate for the app. It would be great to be able to truly whitelabel a web based app and handle this by either allowing for a custom third-party certificate solution or being able to update the existing cert for the app domain name.
