🌐 A healthy global vulnerability ecosystem doesn’t avoid disagreement – it handles it transparently and responsibly. The CVE Program Council of Roots published a new blog on CVE Record disputes – why they happen, how they are managed, and what they signal to downstream consumers in a compliance-driven world. The post reflects the recent, thoughtful discussion within the Council of Roots – the group focused on federated operations and coordination across the CNA community through the CVE Program’s Top-Level Root (TL-Root) and Root hierarchies. Disputes aren’t a sign of failure. They’re often the result of credible, differing interpretations across suppliers, researchers, and other stakeholders – and how we document and communicate that ambiguity matters. This blog does a great job unpacking the intent of the current policy, the tradeoffs involved, and why transparency and traceability remain core program values. If you work with CVE data as a CNA, supplier, researcher, auditor, consumer, (or something else), I strongly encourage you to read the post and engage with the ideas it raises (note the call for feedback at the bottom of the blog 👀). CVE Program policies evolve through community engagement and collaboration!
