Docker Desktop v4.41.2 fails to start: "com.docker.build: exit status 1"

Description

Docker Desktop fails to start immediately after opening. It shows an "An unexpected error occurred" dialog with the error message "com.docker.build: exit status 1".

Troubleshooting Steps Taken

• I have tried quitting and restarting the application.
• I have gathered diagnostics.

• Docker Desktop Version: v4.41.2

Reproduce

1. Install or update to Docker Desktop v4.41.2.
2. Open Docker Desktop.
3. The application immediately shows an "An unexpected error occurred" dialog and does not start.

Expected behavior

Docker Desktop should start successfully, the Docker Engine should become active, and the main dashboard should be accessible.

Same error after update on windows 10, even after reset to factory defaults.

@PPland thanks for the diagnostics. The logs have:

[com.docker.backend.exe.tasks.build] 2025-06-21 01:23:19 [F] open \\.\pipe\dockerDesktopBuildServer: Access is denied.

I notice you have a process com.docker.build.exe still running on your machine. Could you try killing all com.docker.build.exe and com.docker.backend.exe processes and restarting Docker?
