Scalable Cloud Infrastructure Management
- Project Lead
- Jim Harford
This workstream was originally formed under the Future Technologies Initiative in 2019. In 2023, the workstream became the Cloud Service Model (CSM) workstream within the Hardware Management Project. In 2025, it was renamed to Scalable Cloud Infrastructure Management (SCIM) workstream, remaining within the Hardware Management Project.
Scope
The Scalable Cloud Infrastructure Management workstream will address hardware management of large data centers (100,000 nodes or more), creating documents in the following areas:
- Architectures, protocols, and data models that communicate hardware management information across data center networks;
- Analysis of existing communication mechanisms and interacting with standards bodies to improve the effectiveness of those mechanisms for hardware management at data center scale;
- Management challenges associated with new technologies (e.g. AI/ML, RDMA, PCIe/CXL, DDR, quantum computing); and
- Predictive models that forecast how anticipated aspects of hardware systems affect the financial performance of the data center.

The calendar displayed here is updated nightly from the project's Groups.io Calendar

Formed in 2009, the Archive Team (not to be confused with the archive.org Archive-It Team) is a rogue archivist collective dedicated to saving copies of rapidly dying or deleted websites for the sake of history and digital heritage. The group is 100% composed of volunteers and interested parties, and has expanded into a large amount of related projects for saving online and digital history.
