I’m back from WordCamp US, and the memories are still fresh. Within moments of arriving in Portland, I was greeted with smiles, hugs, spontaneous hallway conversations, and that unmistakable energy that only the WordPress community can create. Throughout the week, I was surrounded by thoughtful discussions, generous mentorship, and contagious laughter. These moments reminded me that open source isn’t just a model, it’s a movement powered by people who care deeply and show up fully. Thank you to everyone who made this event so meaningful. If we crossed paths, know that I appreciated it. And if we didn’t, I hope we will next time. Let’s carry this momentum forward, together!

Well, I need to confess something: I’ve never written a line of code in my life, so last week I was really worried. I went to my first WordCamp US, and one thought kept running through my mind: “What am I supposed to do at a coding event if I’m not a code girl?” Shame on me, because I was completely wrong (and sometimes it’s fine not to be right all the time). I realized that this event isn’t just for technical people. It’s for everyone who wants to build something bigger for the future. Instead of feeling completely lost, I felt completely part of something. I was embraced by the community and learned so much about the ecosystem. Here are a few moments that really stood out to me: 1. Contributor Day: watching Megan Hall and Julia Wilk start amazing movements in their cities, guided by our lovely Rocío Valdivia at the community table. 2. Kelly Schuknecht talk on the power of personal branding for agency owners (you should check out her project, it’s really cool). I truly believe personal branding is part of the future, and seeing a woman talk about it excites me even more! 3. Adam Gazzaley, from Neuroscape at the University of California, San Francisco, shared his research on how merging future technologies with ancient ones can transform lives. I believe in this connection too! 4. The sponsors’ area: so many great companies and people, open to teaching me, giving demos, and showing how different tools can help my company (and my clients too). And by the way, thnks for all the gifts, everyone! 5. The party and the food: absolutely amazing! Unfortunately, I don’t have photos to share because I was too busy living the moment. 6. Finally, I want to thank everyone for the great connections and conversations about the present and the future. Thank you, WordCamp US! I can’t wait to come back! mauricio barrantes Lance Robbins Jurij Oblak Isotta Peira PK Melethil
