This collection is all about the DOST-Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS (STARBOOKS). STARBOOKS, the first S&T digital library in the country, is a stand-alone information source designed to reach those with limited or no access to S&T information resources. The project aims to provide STI (Science, Technology, and Innovation)-based content in various formats to students and other constituents in geographically isolated and economically challenged schools and communities throughout the country. It contains hundreds of thousands of digitized science and technology resources in various formats (text and video/audio) placed in specially designed “pods” set in a user-friendly interface. The STARBOOKS has received awards and recognition from different awarding bodies such as, the Presidential Citation for Innovative International Library Projects by the American Library Association (ALA), Outstanding Library of the Year by PAARL, Government Best Practice Recognition by the Development Academy of the Philippines, Silver and Gold Anvil Awards by the Anvil Awards Public Relations Society of the Philippines, FOI Special Award by the Presidential Communications Operations Office, and Excellence in Government Communications Program Award by the Philippine Quill Awards. The articles here are archived from different websites and the copyright remains with the original writer/creator of the articles. The collector aims to preserve these articles as long as possible and make them accessible to the public through time.
