Occasionally, on my way home, I pass by a memorial plaque carrying the name of Prof. Menahem Stern, a renown Israeli historian & winner of the Israel prize.
On June 22, 1989 walking from his home to , Prof. Stern was stabbed to death by Palestinian terrorists.

Only 1 of the killers lived to face trial. At the trial, a note written by Mathilde Rathenau, which “revealed the bleeding, agonized yet forgiving Jewish heart” was read in his defense.

One of these is a text containing poetry by the 10th-century Arab Shiite poet Al-Sharif al-Radi. This particular copy was commissioned for Fakhr al-Din II, a Druze noble who ruled southern Lebanon and the northern Land of Israel during the late 16th and early 17th centuries!
