6/ The email outlining they accepted her resignation is his explicit acknowledgement of playing a role in this. Because the company does not have to accept the resignation. They 'accepted' it because it gives them the excuse they had been looking for

The same people who said they had to vote for Trump or else they'd end up on lists are now hiding in the tall grass as Trump demands a list of names of those who won't support a coup attempt.

A proper rank-ordering of GOP officials who have resisted Trump’s post-election pressure would have to be: 1) State and federal judges; 2) State officials; 3) State legislators; 4) Fifty feet of crap; 5) Additional fifty feet of crap; 5) GOP Senators; 6) GOP House caucus.

Bitcoin 2009: we use PoW because we expect Sybil attacks in an adversarial environment with unknown participants including government goons! Bitcoin 2020: the US gov't better not regulate the US bank backed-tokens linked to our KYC'ed wallets hosted by VC-funded intermediaries!

It's a shame so many people are learning 's name because a scared white man fired her from Google. While you’re paying attention, here are some vastly more important and interesting things to know about Timnit Gebru, to whom we owe a debt of gratitude.

Going back in time three weeks is probably a more plausible strategy for Trump than the stuff his lawyers are attempting in court.

When Trump, in his Valdosta speech, accidentally said “filing out” instead of “filling out,” that’s a giveaway that his rant about election theft was written in the text, not ad-libbed.

Anyone studying the media ecosystem around conspiracy theorizing and political disinformation has surely noted the proliferation of websites associated w/ religious cults. Not sure whether this is about creating an audience, or meeting an audience where they’re at. Probably both.

  9. Hitler has enough sense not to go to war with Stalin, solidifies hold on western Europe and succeeds in invading Britain. US still develops the A-bomb first, wins against Japan, leaving a tri-polar rather than a bi-polar world post-WWII

OH, on technical interviews: “if I saw a live-ass engineer at my company hand-rolling a linked list I’d parachute right the fuck on in to figure out why they’ve gone all historical re-enactment on company time”

Judges appointed by Trump shutting down Trump’s frivolous suits doesn’t prove those judges aren’t hacks, it proves how embarrassing Trump’s coup attempts are.

There's nothing more perilous than an erstwhile one-party state where one side hasn't come to grips with its battleground (or worse) status--Trump ethering governors of two such state GOPs on the way out the door is just going to turbocharge that dynamic.

I would just like to reflect again that Greenwald hasn’t changed. He has always largely been a bullshit artist and demagogic propagandist. He was enamored by folks because he had access to a large trove of class info— cognitive biases and group think predominated.

Yep I wrote about this in one of my recent email exchanges being like so you want to shutdown this paper but a Playboy spread is ok? When told me about it I thought it was a joke. Then I found the internal thread where the senior men were congratulating each other.

    8. Its a secretive, persecuted religious group. Good luck getting a window into $$, decision making, & strategy. Nevertheless, many have a similar take: its about guiding US policy towards China & Trump is seen as a better bet.

This is a joke that's not a joke. Two times in as many years that ethicists and ethical boards in the Google AI division have been summarily fired and dismantled because they got even the slightest pushback from those people doing their jobs or over how that board was constituted
