Northeast Historic Film (NHF) is premiering
“Maine’s Home Movies: Treasures from Northeast Historic Film”
on Maine Public, in celebration of Maine’s 2020 Bicentennial.
The program airs Jan. 2, 2020 at 9:00pm and Jan. 4 at 2pm.

Movie Queen

Margaret Cram and other itinerant women directors made Movie Queen films in the 1930s. Movie Queen, Lubec was shot on the coast of Maine and preserved by Northeast Historic Film.

Adelaide Pearson Films Gandhi

Adelaide Pearson traveled the world filming potters to inform her Maine pottery business. In India she met Mahatma Gandhi, in 1936 shooting what may be the first color footage of him.

Camp Chewonki Collection

The Camp Chewonki Collection consists of two reels shot in the 1940s depicting daily summer camp activities at Camp Chewonki in Wiscasset, Maine. Chewonki is a boys camp in operation since 1915 that continues to operate today.
