The event closed with our newest Automattic Designer, @zeldman, who left everyone feeling inspired and ready to take on the future!

While we were in Arizona, we had to take a field trip to Frank Lloyd Wright’s famous Taliesin West house—it was a beautiful site that everyone should visit.

And we got to hear from our CEO, @photomatt, about the history of WordPress and how it all came to be. It was interesting to learn how a system like WordPress can come to be solely through the power of a community that wants to be together.

Not to mention the legendary design firm @cghnyc worked on our Jetpack logo—which was originally designed by Automattic Designer @davecave.

At the gathering, we distributed our new playbooks and connected IRL in super high-bandwidth form, which was amazing, as we normally operate as a fully-distributed company.

Our Head of Design Ops, @alisonrand, opened the event, and even though we were congregated in the heat of the Arizona summer, her presentation made everyone feel cool, calm, and refreshed.

Last week we held our first “Design Collaboration Meetup,” connecting teams across product, dev, support, marketing, human resources, and, of course: design! Here’s the recap:
