    I feel this. I remember my mother getting scared about me going to study in Cairo in the mid 90s and being like, “I go to school in DC. You realize there have been more murders in DC in the last 6 months than in all of Egypt for the last 20 years, right?”

    As I get ready to visit the Middle East this week I’m struck by how many people ask me if it’s safe there. I only say yes. I want to say, “Is it safe here?”

    Greenblaut said "I don't think there will be many surprises in the [political] plan" of Kushner's Deal of a Century. That is the most revelatory comment made by anyone in the Trump administration on what to expect with this plan, and no one is reporting it except for VOA?

    Ongoing: Demolitions in started early this morning with four houses at once. Preparations started past midnight as hundreds of armed Israeli occupying soldiers/ bulldozers stormed the town. Families threatened with demolitions were woken up/ moved out of their homes.

    But if you hoard documents than you can convince all 6 people in the world who actually really care a lot about your research to dislike you.... why would you pass up that opportunity?

    Do any other sometimes conclude that life is too short to hoard documents?

    Historians: I don't think I can teach 19thC history because my speciality is really the Northern Campaign of the Franco Prussian War (January 1871). Political theorists: I can talk about anything 380 BCE to Rawls.
