With Amazon AppStream 2.0, you pay only for the streaming resources that you use, and a small monthly fee per authorized user. There is no upfront investment, and no long term commitment when using Amazon AppStream 2.0.
Streaming Charges
AppStream 2.0 Fleet and Image Builder instances that are running are charged hourly, even if no users are connected. The instance charge includes compute, storage, and bandwidth that is consumed by the streaming protocol.
User Charges
User fees are charged per user per month in each AWS Region where they connect to Amazon AppStream 2.0 fleet instances, and are not pro-rated. User fees are not incurred when using Image Builder. The user fee covers the Microsoft Remote Desktop Services Subscriber Access License (RDS SAL).
Free Tier
The Amazon AppStream 2.0 Free Tier allows you to use the stream.standard.large instance type for free for up to 40 hours per month when using Image Builder. This benefit is available for 2 months following your AWS sign-up date, or until 31st March, whichever is later. Image Builder allows you to easily import, install, test, and update your applications for streaming using AppStream 2.0.
Try It Now
The Try It Now experience allows you to sample applications already installed on Amazon AppStream 2.0 for free, with no setup required. You can access applications for business, design, engineering, and software development, work with your own files, and print content.

For each authorized end user in an AWS Region accessing applications on your fleet instances, you will be charged a Microsoft RDS SAL fee of $4.19 / user / month. This fee is charged in full and is not pro-rated, regardless of when a user first accesses your applications in that month. This fee is not applicable when using Image Builder.
If you have Microsoft License Mobility, you may be eligible to bring your own Microsoft RDS CAL licenses and use them with Amazon AppStream 2.0. For users covered by your own licenses, you won’t incur the monthly user fees.
