Indonesia is the fourth largest country in the world and has the largest Muslim population. While 90 percent of the people are Muslim, there is a growing Christian population, some of whom are members of our sister church body, Gereja Lutheran. Gereja Lutheran Indonesia, is growing both spiritually and numerically.

Japan remains one of hardest places on the planet to do mission work. Only the Lord knows the number of those who belong to him, but it is estimated that only one percent of the people of Japan are Christian.

Gospel outreach is accomplished through the distribution of Christian materials, the Scripture Learning Program and the training of workers. The Lord has blessed these programs so that curretnly more than 100 individuals are being trained to proclaim the gospel.

The mission in Pakistan grows like a beautiful rose in the desert. Surrounded by a nation that is 97 percent Muslim many seeds are being sown.

Westerners are naturally curious about Russia, the massive country rich in culture and history that had been closed to Americans for seventy years.

The Taiwan population is just over 23 million people. The official language of Taiwan is Mandarin Chinese. The traditional religion on Taiwan is a mix of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. But the greatest barrier to the gospel of Jesus Christ is ancestor worship.

Thailand is a country known for many things. Often referred to as "The Land of Smiles," the nation boasts of its well-renowned beaches and lush jungles, its well-preserved cultural traditions and its many ethnic hilltribe groups, its highly revered royal family, and its delightful cuisine!

The WELS theological training program continues to be the heart and soul of mission work in India. On average, there are more than 75 men being trained in the four-year seminary program and the two year pre-seminary program at any given time.
