WHO WE ARE
Beirut for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (BETA) is an animal rescue/animal welfare group, who also promotes animal rights, established in 2004 in Beirut by nine co-founders who joined forces to rescue and re-home stray animals and to raise awareness about animal welfare. BETA has created a number of important humane projects. First, BETA created and launched a website at http://animals.beirut.com that succeeded in attracting volunteers through an online volunteer form and in finding homes for rescued animals through an online adoption form. Second, BETA has founded Lebanon's first cat shelter and dog shelter. Third, BETA has rescued and spayed/neutered hundreds of cats and dogs ever since its founding. Fourth, BETA has spread awareness about animal welfare and responsible pet ownership through its mailing list of about 1000 subscribers and through its weekly fundraising flea market. However, to sustain its current work and to help more animals, BETA needs the financial support of local and international donors. Your help is urgently needed. Donations can be made locally at our donations boxes in Lebanon or online by credit card. All details are on our website.

WHY WE'RE HERE
To find good, lasting homes for the homeless animals we've already rescued.
To combat abusive pet shops and their illegal trade in wildlife.
To spread awareness about responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying/neutering.
To promote humane values and the ethical treatment of animals (being human is not enough!).
To promote a cruelty-free, vegetarian diet.

Remember: We exist solely on the kindness of your adoptions and donations.

In short, as a valuable friend and a true animal lover said:

What we want to do is find a permanent paradise for these animals. Yes, I call it paradise because that's what they deserve. They are almost like children who will never grow up and will stay innocent for as long as they live. So a paradise they do deserve.

Help us sustain our work.
