"Outsourcing" cruelty - Vivisection is the next wave by Philip Wollen In 1992 I wrote a paper describing how a trickle of "outsourced" manufacturing would lead to a flood...and it would have a number of dire economic consequences. Many people thought I was being unduly alarmist and argued that (even if it did happen) it would only be the unskilled, metal bashing industries which would go off shore. Ultimately I warned, we would be the "book ends" of the economic food chain, exporting raw material and buying back finished goods. The middle bits in the "value chain" would go elsewhere. We would simply become a "quarry and customer". Write Comment (0 Comments) |
