☁️ Day 8 of #30DaysOfAWS Been deep in the trenches trying to implement the production-grade VPC architecture from the AWS docs. Multi-AZ setup, NAT gateways per AZ, ALB in public subnets, Auto Scaling Group in private subnets, VPC endpoints—the whole deal. Still wiring things up and testing, but I’ve already learned a ton about routing, security groups, and scaling policies. Planning to share a full breakdown soon—with a diagram to show how everything connects. Stay tuned. #DevOps #CloudEngineering #AWSVPC #LearningInPublic #AWS #CloudComputing

I just wrapped deploying a 3-Tier system for the Reader recipe app on AWS using Terraform without the need for containers. I wanted to feel how things worked before containers orchestration. The key challenge was resilience. I learned how to intentionally design the network across multiple data centers (Multi-AZ). Seeing the complex VPC, load balancers, and a self-healing EC2 fleet come to life, all just from my code, felt good. I put together a simple walkthrough detailing exactly how I went from initializing Terraform to manually deploying the application. https://lnkd.in/d_AMDe3J #Terraform #AWS #CloudComputing #DevOpsJourney #IaC #AWSFreeTier

Today I explored some fundamental AWS concepts and services: 🔹 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝟯 · Installed and used the AWS SDK S3 Client · Learned about generating Pre-signed URLs for secure private access · Understood S3 Event Notifications for triggering actions like file uploads or deletions · Explored CloudFront for secure content delivery and connecting a custom domain to S3 · Reviewed S3 pricing — uploads are free; storage and retrieval incur charges 🔹 𝗔𝗪𝗦 𝗜𝗔𝗠 (𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁) · Created users and groups to manage permissions · Learned how IAM enhances security by granting access only to authorized users 🔹 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘃𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰 (𝗘𝗖𝟮 𝘃𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗱𝗮) · EC2: Requires managing fixed server resources and manual setup · Lambda: Fully managed serverless model that charges only when code executes · Explored the Serverless Framework for simplified deployment 💡 Overall, today’s learning helped me understand how AWS efficiently manages storage, permissions, and scalable infrastructure. #AWS #MERNStack #CloudComputing #LearningJourney

Our AWS bill gradually increased 26% over a few months, so I spent a few days digging into AWS Cost Explorer to identify the root cause. It turns out that it wasn't one big problem. It was four small decisions that weren't revisited: 📊 A single memory metric on one EC2 instance costing $300/month (high-resolution monitoring to troubleshoot a short-term problem) 🔗 An old New Relic integration sending metrics to a service we no longer use 📦 Container Insights logging every namespace in our EKS cluster when we only needed 11 production apps ($130/month in noise) 💾 Hourly AWS Backup snapshots with cross-region replication for a compliance requirement that didn't exist yet ($200/month in premature optimization) Cloud costs don't necessarily spike; they creep. Features are enabled for testing and remain active. Monitoring gets more verbose over time. Nobody revisits old decisions. By catching this early, I headed off nearly $10K in annual waste with zero impact to observability, zero impact to reliability, and no complaints from engineering. #AWS #FinOps #CloudCosts #DevOps
