How do you prove your software actually makes customers more profitable? By literally handing them the cash. 💵 On the latest TechMates episode, Simon Pound shares a legendary marketing stunt from his time at Vend. After calculating that their product helped the average retailer save $2,000, they didn't just write a boring case study. Instead, they went to a beloved customer's store in Auckland, hid inside with confetti cannons, and "made it rain" with 2,000 physical $1 bills to surprise the owner! 🎉 It created fantastic, colorful content for their social channels, but more importantly, it sent a powerful message to their entire market: we actually show up for our retailers and deliver tangible value. 🤝 🎧 Listen On: YouTube: https://lnkd.in/gQnb_WbB Spotify: https://spoti.fi/4is21QI Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/42KZ2x1 #TechMates, #SimonPound, #Vend, #MarketingStunt, #B2BMarketing, #SaaS, #CustomerSuccess, #RetailTech, #BrandBuilding, #MarketingStrategy, #CreativeMarketing, #FounderStories

Honored to join Rachael Bueckert on the GTM Science podcast to share more of my CRO journey. A few of the takes we spent the most time on: • CRO vs. “glorified VP of Sales” Owning revenue isn’t just owning a number. It’s owning the system, from ICP to expansion, and making the tradeoffs across it. • Why most companies get ICP wrong It’s often static, opinion-based, and disconnected from actual value. AI and data enrichment are changing that, if you’re willing to rethink it. • Customer success is a growth lever (especially in vertical SaaS!) Not a post-sale function, not a cost center. It’s where retention, expansion, and real product insight actually happen. • B2B marketing is increasingly more like consumer marketing As more buyers discover companies through LLMs, the tactics that get you surfaced look a lot more like consumer marketing than traditional B2B. Would love to hear what resonates if you give it a listen! You can find the episode on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or YouTube below 👇

Your demand problem is likely a brand problem. In today’s market, where trust is fragile and confidence is hard-won, performance alone can’t sustain growth. The shift is already underway - in 2024, brand has overtaken demand as the top strategic priority. “Brand awareness and top-of-funnel” activity has surged into the top three focus areas - just behind new market opportunities and customer experience. In the latest episode of Beyond the Index, Luke Boyadjian (dentsu B2B) joins Aimie Rigas (Nine) and Jake Hird (dentsu B2B) to unpack what’s really driving demand today. They cover: 🔹 Trust and confidence as critical growth levers 🔹 The power of distinctive brand assets 🔹 Linking brand investment to commercial outcomes If demand is plateauing, the answer may not be deeper in the funnel. Brand is the multiplier that makes everything else work harder. 🎧 Listen here: Spotify - https://lnkd.in/gDGWa_9Q Apple Podcasts - https://lnkd.in/gRBPV44e Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gSjvJkiJ #BeyondTheIndex #DentsuB2B #B2BMarketing #BrandStrategy #MarketingEffectiveness

When Mondelez learned their retail partners were expecting 30% of their site traffic to be agentic by 2028, the company stopped and paid attention. AI was upending the way people searched for products online, and the CPG brand was faced with a decision to make: overhaul its digital presence or risk falling behind in the age of agentic commerce. I called up Andrew Lederman, vp of global digital commerce at Mondelez, to learn more. We got into the weeds on a few shifts that every marketer should have on their radar, including Mondelez's three-pillar rebuild strategy. Many Ecommerce brands hit a wall around $5M. Early on, performance marketing can take you pretty far. Lower funnel Meta ads, strong creatives, and a good offer can scale a brand quickly. But once you reach that next stage, the playbook changes. Now it’s about brand, storytelling, product innovation, and finding new audiences. That’s the shift many brands struggle to make. Nik Sharma explains why brands often plateau at this stage and what it takes to break through on The Modern Supply Chain podcast. Link to the episode in the comments. 🎧

At Shoptalk this week, CEO and co-founder Scot Wingo had the chance to participate in something new: the first-ever debate format on agentic commerce. The question: Will AI agents actually transform retail? Scot was joined on the pro-agentic side by Ekta Chopra, who brought a strong operator perspective from inside E.L.F. BEAUTY. On the other side, Sarah Marzano and Andrew Lipsman pushed back with thoughtful (and needed) skepticism. It turned into one of the most honest conversations we've heard recently on: - how fast consumer behavior is actually changing - what “agentic commerce” really means in practice - what brands and retailers should (and shouldn’t) be doing right now With permission from Shoptalk and the panel, Retailgentic turned the raw audio into a podcast and got it out just 2 days later. Great discussion! Conclusion: 1. Agentic is real and mostly for research and find. Bye-bye, buy! 2. Content, story-telling has always been KING and always will be. 3. Search will dramatically shift to agentic discovery platforms. Hopefully you are already planning, testing, or executing now. 4. Consumer TRUST will push people to continue to purchase from the brands and sites that deliver a long term positive experience. Yes, all merchants must act, however act with purpose and intent.
