This part of my conversation with Damon Darnall really made me pause. It’s a powerful reminder that not all learning happens in classrooms...and not all progress looks “traditional” from the outside. ✨ Some of the most valuable skills are earned by being in it, making decisions, taking responsibility, and figuring things out in real time. You don’t always realize how much you’re learning while it’s happening… only when you look back. This clip hits on why building something—anything—can accelerate growth in ways no curriculum ever could. Why Checking Prerequisites Matters Before Entering the Classroom 🎯 As educators, we often focus on what to teach—but equally important is knowing whether students are ready to learn it. Checking prerequisites before starting a class helps to: ✅ Bridge knowledge gaps ✅ Increase student confidence ✅ Ensure better classroom engagement ✅ Save time by avoiding repeated explanations ✅ Build a strong foundation for advanced concepts When students lack prerequisite knowledge, even the best lesson can feel overwhelming. But when they are prepared, learning becomes smoother, meaningful, and enjoyable. 👉 A quick recap, diagnostic questions, or a short discussion at the beginning of class can make a huge difference. Great teaching doesn’t start with the lesson—it starts with readiness. #TeachingTips #EffectiveTeaching #StudentCenteredLearning #ClassroomStrategies #EducationLeadership #CommerceEducation

Great teaching does not begin with content—it begins with readiness. Checking prerequisites before entering a lesson is one of the most effective instructional moves an educator can make. When teachers take time to surface prior knowledge, misconceptions, and skill gaps, they create learning conditions where students feel confident, engaged, and capable. This simple practice: Bridges learning gaps before they widen Reduces frustration and cognitive overload Builds confidence and participation Saves time by preventing repeated explanations Strengthens foundations for deeper learning Whether through a short diagnostic, a focused recap, or a structured discussion, assessing readiness ensures instruction meets students where they are—not where we assume they should be. Strong instructional practice depends on clarity and intentional design. It also depends on schools that value these fundamentals and support teachers to apply them consistently. That is where alignment matters. www.academicjobs.com connects educators and leaders with roles that prioritise quality instruction, professional judgement, and evidence-informed teaching—through sector-specific opportunities and transparent recruitment. In a classroom, the most valuable skill might be asking the right questions. Sharing real-world policy experiences combined with thoughtful inquiry transforms passive learning into active critical thinking. It encourages students to challenge assumptions and connect theory to practice. Cultivating curiosity isn't just about finding answers; it's about developing sharper minds. #CriticalThinking #Education #Policy #Classroom #Learning

One strategy that has transformed my teaching is repetition and reinforcement. Over the years, I have learned that students don’t struggle because they are not smart. They struggle because new information needs time and repetition before it becomes clear. That is why repetition and reinforcement have become a core part of my teaching. I don’t just explain a concept once and move on I revisit it, break it down again, use new examples to deepen understanding and I allow students to practise until the lesson settles in their minds. This simple approach has helped me build stronger retention in my students, reduce their fear of difficult subjects, turn confusion into confidence, improve long-term performance and help even the quiet learners catch up. Repetition is not about saying the same thing over and over. It is about giving the brain enough chances to recognise, understand and remember. And this strategy works beyond the classroom. Professionals grow faster when they review what they have learned, practise it and reinforce it consistently. Mastery is built through repeated effort, not one-time exposure. What simple strategy or habit has improved your learning or work? I would love to hear from other professionals. #21dayslinkedinchallengewithchidinmasamson #NLIAcademy #teachglowgrowrich #learningstrategy #professionalgrowth Chidinma Samson

Repetition isn't just a teaching method; it's the bedrock of learning. Understanding how repeating information solidifies memories, from classroom lessons to real-world skills, is key. Different memory types respond uniquely to repetition, which makes a structured approach essential. How can strategic repetition transform learning outcomes? #LearningMethods #Memory #Education #TeachingStrategies
