Another week, another conference! After Orlando, last week I travelled to Atlanta for #FabCon. A first for Wiiisdom and what a week. Here are my key conference takeaways👇🏻
1️⃣ 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞
At Wiiisdom, we’ve been educating the market for years on the importance of governing the last mile of the data journey. At every conference we attend, there are more conversations and more maturity. Governing analytics is no longer a niche topic; it’s becoming a priority for many organizations.
2️⃣ 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝
Our session on 𝘍𝘢𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘤 𝘊𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘜𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭: 𝘙𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘊𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘴, 𝘓𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘖𝘶𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴, 𝘉𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘜𝘴𝘦𝘳 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 was overcrowded with nearly 1K people bookmarking the session. That level of engagement doesn’t happen by accident. It confirms something we’ve believed for a long time.
3️⃣ 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 = 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐎𝐈
The message is landing because the value is tangible and in line with corporate strategies:
• Cost optimization
• Better operational efficiency
• Fewer incidents and less firefighting
• And ultimately, peace of mind when managing BI platforms
4️⃣ 𝐅𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥
Among all the announcements, a few themes stood out:
• Capacity management remains a hot topic
• CI/CD continues to evolve, with strong new capabilities in Fabric
• Better native monitoring to help teams understand and control their environments
5️⃣ 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞
Agents and MCP were everywhere in the keynote. Agentic AI and the operationalization of AI through Fabric Data Agents and Operational Agents are becoming foundational.
FabCon was heavily AI‑oriented, but what really stood out is that Microsoft continues to innovate just as strongly in governance.
Because scaling AI and analytics only works if you keep control of the environment.
