Nvidia accelerates its global AI investments 🌍 Nvidia has announced two major investments aimed at strengthening its position in the global AI ecosystem just as it exceeds the USD5 trillion valuation (the first company in history to do this). 💰 USD1bn in Nokia – acquiring a 2.9% stake through the purchase of 166.4mn shares. The partnership will focus on AI networking solutions and explore incorporating Nokia’s data centre switching and optical technologies into Nvidia’s future AI systems. The collaboration aligns with Nokia’s growing sales of network infrastructure equipment, driven by surging AI and data-centre demand in North America 🇺🇸 ⚡ Up to USD100bn in OpenAI – supporting a large-scale data centre expansion to deploy at least 10 GW of Nvidia-powered systems. The first phase of the project is targeted to go live in the second half of 2026, with full details expected to be finalised in the coming weeks 🗓️ Together with its recent USD5bn investment in Intel, these commitments highlight Nvidia’s ambition to shape the architecture of global AI computing and data connectivity for the decade ahead!

Europe’s next step in the compute race is collaboration, not competition. The US continues to accelerate its leadership in AI and compute, with last week’s news of Nvidia’s decision to manufacture its AI chips in Arizona. The move reflects more than a supply chain milestone, it reveals a deeper truth about accessibility and the power of a unified ecosystem. Kif Leswing’s recent piece for CNBC highlights how far the U.S. ecosystem has advanced in uniting policy and innovation. For Europe, this is a moment to reflect on how we can match that momentum through collaboration rather than competition. Europe has world-class research, engineering, and innovation, yet fragmentation across regions and policy frameworks continues to dilute its impact. Building a more connected, interoperable ecosystem will be essential if Europe is to strengthen its resilience and competitiveness in the next wave of AI and compute.
