Had a conversation recently with a friend who had just come back from Central Asia. The trip sounded great, but one thing they kept mentioning was payments. Some places only took cash, some accepted cards, and you were never really sure what would work where. It reminded me how different the experience is compared to India, where UPI, cards, and net banking have made payments almost invisible. Came across this PayU 8B update about enabling NPCI-backed UPI along with these payment methods in that region. If that brings even a bit of that “just works” experience to travellers, it’s a meaningful improvement.
