Senior SQL Developer | $110k+

Our client is seeking a Senior SQL Developer with a strong foundation in database administration to join their IT and data engineering team. This individual will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing database solutions while ensuring performance, reliability, and data integrity across enterprise systems. The role combines hands-on development with architectural input and operational awareness, supporting both application teams and broader data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL solutions including stored procedures, views, functions, and performance-optimized queries.
• Partner with application and data teams to translate business requirements into scalable database designs and data models.
• Architect and implement data structures, including operational data stores and data marts, aligned with enterprise data standards.
• Optimize database performance through indexing strategies, query tuning, and execution plan analysis.
• Support and enhance ETL processes, data integration workflows, and large-scale data movement.
• Collaborate with DBA teams to ensure efficient database operations, including deployment, monitoring, and capacity planning.
• Contribute to database design standards, naming conventions, and best practices across the organization.
• Assist in defining and enforcing data governance, security, and access controls.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in production environments, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers and contribute to technical design discussions.
• Participate in system upgrades, database migrations, and environment improvements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience working with SQL Server or similar relational database platforms.
• Prior experience in a Database Administrator (DBA) or hybrid DBA/Developer role.
• Strong expertise in T-SQL development, including performance tuning and optimization.
• Solid understanding of database architecture, schema design, indexing, and transaction management.
• Experience with data modeling (relational and dimensional) and large-scale data environments.
• Familiarity with backup/recovery strategies, security models, and database maintenance practices.
• Experience supporting production systems and working in high-availability environments.
• Exposure to ETL tools, data pipelines, or data integration frameworks preferred.
• Proficiency working in Linux/Windows environments and understanding of system-level performance considerations.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data and system issues.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
