Một số tham số cơ bản có thể được sử dụng trong bản mẫu mà không cần sử dụng tham số đặt tên, như ví dụ dưới:

Cách dùng này sẽ không hoạt động nếu có tham số chứa dấu bằng (“=”). Giá trị của bất kỳ tham số nào chứa dấu bằng phải được bao hàm bởi thẻ<nowiki>, như thế này: “<nowiki>http://foo.com?id=bar</nowiki>”. Ngoài ra, hãy sử dụng kiểu tham số đặt tên như url.
Ví dụ:
{{Chú thích sách|author=Bryan A. Garner|authorlink=Bryan A. Garner|title=A Dictionary of Modern Legal Usage|edition=3rd|location=New York, N.Y.; Oxford|publisher={{w|Oxford University Press}}|year=2011|isbn=978-0-19-538420-8}}.
sẽ tạo ra:
- Bryan A. Garner (2011), A Dictionary of Modern Legal Usage, ấn bản 3rd, New York, N.Y.; Oxford: Oxford University Press, →ISBN.
